ERROR - render failed

I don't know why, but I get this error message when I try to render a file that run smooth before with 1.5.

I lready reapplied all the materials that used custom mxm. Only some preset materials (coloured plastics, diffuse and metals from 1.5 maxwell tags remain). There are no more texture path issues.
Just the message "ERROR -Render failed"

here is the whole render window:

ERROR: - Render Failed
Do I have to strip the file of the old maxwell, too?

edit: got rid of the old tags and still no render picture just this error....

This happened to me as well several times in a large scene, and i traced it down to a single group of objects. I solved it by connecting the group.
Not sure why it errored though, but i had used bend deformers on some of the objects, and i know i´ve experienced issues with deformers in the past.

still the same... just the message without giving a reason... seems like I have to strip itof the objects until narrowed down...

sorry for the triple post.. found the object.

I had an object with 2 materials on 2 polygon selections. One defined by a maxwell material and one defined with a cinema material. Both using different textures and different polygon selections so this shouldn't be a problem. At least it worked with 1.5.
Strange..

Could you provide that scene or a stripped down variant of it for testeing, please?

Thanks

Looks correct for me:

I get a render error as described above.

There were two situations which led me to an unwanted behaviour:

1. when I use the working folder path that you used. Because I have no such folder. Changed that.
2. when I use the mxm path that you use. Changed that to the place where the mxm is saved.

After that, I always receive a successful render on my 9.6 and 10.5 demo, so maybe it is a system specific thing?

maybe just that.

I got rid of the selections and just have the one maxwell material displayed and it works. The folder and file names should be fine, as tehy rendered before and work if I put them on separate objects.
