Materialeditor inaccessible from C4D with 1.6

Unless there's a problem with my machine and C4D installation (10.5) there's a problem with accessing the materialeditor from the C4D plugin with the new 1.6 release. I keep getting this errormessage everytime and my installation is working fine besides this..

This is definitely a spotty issue. Have you checked to see if the standalone studio and material editor work?

Yes the rest works fine, both in Studio and the standalone materialeditor. It's just not working from the C4D plugin. And i can't see anything me or anyone else done wrong, the plugin could be flakey..

I got the same issue here after about 1 minute of installation, except it sais "mxcl" here. The rest of the message is the same.
Refuses to render even a simple cube.
Please tell me that you guys have beta tested this one with C4D 10.5?

Others suffer from the same issue as well. Studio doesn´t seem to be affected, but it doesn´t exactly help. We do use the plugin for a reason.

I had a good play with 1.6 and was happy. Then I tried importing a folder of MXMs and now I get the following message....
mmm...
not so happy now...

I am not experiencing this on MAC OSX, this seems to be confined to Win XP. The exact nature is not clear as it has not shown up in testing.
