maxwell works perfectly here on a PB G4.
I'm using Cinema4d 9.6 though...

Just for the record, you only need to copy the
plugin folder containing the followinf files into
plugins:

Maxwell.cdl
maxwell.dylib
maxwell.r9.6.dylib.zip
maxwell.r10.dylib.zip
maxwell.xdl
README_1st_CineMaxwell1.1k.txt
res

The maxwell folder containing the maxwell application should be
in /Applications. But you probably know that:).
