If you have saved the mxi you can launch the same render with another seed and merge when it is finished.

i think it's not so easy. isn't there some button to check in the first place or else the mxis won't be able to merge? or is it something about the saving? i seem to remember something like that but it's very blurry ...

You have to specify the saving path before launching the render. If you save the mxi after finishing the render it won't have the information needed for merging the files and won't work.

Right. Also, remember to change the seed for each render, or you'll be giving it the same data in each MXI and the extra time will be basically useless.

it would be very nice for 1.2 to have an option also to be able to merge the mxi saved after rendering.
i think of an checkbox when in the save dialog where you can decide if you save a mxi thats has all data and can be merged or only a lightweight mxi that can be used for later adjustments.
thanks
