Diffusion & Dirt

Just tested the new plugin, and there´s both pros and cons of what i´ve discovered so far.

Just a question about the diffusion channel in Cinemas materials editor.
I normally use this channel to add dirtmaps to materials, but right now it adds reflection instead, and i´m looking at a mirror instead of a worn surface.
Is it just me doing something wrong, or is this how the diffusion channel works with Maxwell?

Diffusion more accurately relates to surface roughness.

Diffusion channel controls roughness whenbeing translated to maxwell.
It is written in helpfile which came with a new plugin.

True, but it can also be used when adding dirt on a surface. Normally.

In other words, i can´t use dirtmaps in the diffusion channel if i want to render the scene in Maxwell.

Btw, this information is incorrect:

"If there is only one material assigned to an object, whether it is a MaxwellClassic tag or a MXM tag with a Cinema4D material tag, there is no need to assign the C4D texture tag to the Texture Tag slot of the Maxwell tag."

Maxwell continuously errored with a single Metal tag, until i assigned a C4D texture tag in the slot.

Can you bake the dirtmaps?
I haven't checked it. I use a separate AO pass in AR as dirtying method (well i am learning to use it :)... Works quite ok as i see...
If you can beke the dirtmap, you can assign them to a different channel i guess...

Unfortunatly that´s not an option either. The color and bump channels are already been used for the rest of the material.
Up until now, i´ve painted all dirt on my Maxwell renders, and that´s ok i guess, but it shouldn´t have to be necessary.

Rochr,

This is not correct about dirt maps. I'll look into doing a tutorial that shows the process. The other thing about the tags is another issue I see that a tutorial is in order.

Tyrone, if you look at this example here, especially the walkway and windows.
This is how i apply dirt to a texture using the diffusion channel, and pretty much what i would like to be able to recreate for Maxwell.
