Same here.
The plug launches mxcl, but nothing happens as mxs file isn't there.

Also the .doc file won't open with any of four *word* related programs I've tried. It crashes them all. Wordpad, Notepad, MS Word and that PDF one.
A good copy would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the help Tyrone.

How about giving us some details about your problem? and perhaps at least the cinema + OS version you're using?

It might help to get an answer.

Is it with all your scenes...?
Give us more information!

Try to validate the path you want to save to is existing. Otherwise try to strip your scene of all materials and just assign diffuse mat to all. Then try to render. If it still doesn't work try to render piece by piece until you find the corrupt object and check why it is corrupting the file.

I have a test scene I set up with a ground plane 144" x 144" and three parametric Cinema Objects which I made editable. I assigned plastic to one, metal to one and a dielectric to another. I used all of Maxwell's default settings for materials. I assigned a Maxwell camera tag to the camera. I am using the sky dome with a setting of 5. When I press render, I get the before mentioned error. This was not an old scene I tried to revive - just a simple test scene.

I have successfully used Maxwell Render almost since its inception - never had a problem getting such a simple scene to render.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here's the file if anyone would like to have a go at it:

Oh, and by the way. My operating system is listed in my signature line - always has been. I am using Cinema 9.603....

I just got the mxs I was hoping for.
I had mistakenly set the Scale to 0, thinking I didn't want a change from C4D to Maxwell. Well, *obviously* zero means just that.
So I reset to 1 and got the mxs.
So thats some progress.
However, the viewer wouldn't launch. Which is "OK" as I take the scene into Studio.
But its not the way it worked previously, when I couldn't get the mxs. So now I can get the mxs, and no viewer. Before, I got the viewer, which told me there was no mxs.

No luck opening the docs though. I downloaded the plug two more times, and tried those docs. Same thing.
Someone posting a pdf version would be a very helpful thing.

@ kmwhitt:
I don't have a problem to open your scene and render it.

Have a look again if your environment Variable is pointing to the correct folder.

Otherwise I have no clue what might be the source of your problems.

no render or render complet without doing anything ??

Thanks in advance for the help Tyrone.
if you have old custom mxm tags in your scene ,delete them
or add the new custom mxm to you object !

maybe that will help that the szene will render now !
(i had the same problem and delete first the old 7.b maxwell tags, after
i kill the custom mxm tag the problem was fixed and the mcl start
to render correct !

This is a brand new file using the 1.1 tags and I still can't get it to render. I have checked the environment variables and all appears well. Where is the customer support? :x

(I think you already tried it several times but) did you delete maxwell and reinstalled it?

I can render your scene, so I really don't know what's the problem. Di you try to write an mxs and go via Studio to see if it writes a mxs-file and opens it in studio?

Hi Macray:

I really appreciate you trying to help me, but I have decided to (again) put Maxwell "on the shelf" until a decent release is realized.

Thanks again,

Kevin
