Major Cinemaxwell trouble! UPD!

I am working on a comercial interior ArchViz now. When the scene had only walls - everything exported perfectly to MW, regardless of the materials and tags, when the scene got closer to the final result, every single try to render with maxwell resulted in CRASH!
I remember a post here in the forum suggesting to put a default diffuse tag to all objects and then reassign the mats in Studio.
Tried that.
Didn't work.
I'm not going to use maxwell on that project anymore, there is just not enough time already, but i'd like to know the way to workaround this trouble!
Any suggestions?
PS. Pity MW was not capable of this work - it wold pay off a great part of my purchase of MW licence
Updated!!! see last post!

I've run into some situations when the Cinema plug would crash before creating the desired mxs file (I only use the plug for this purpose, then render in Studio/mxcl).
The inconvenient work around I've use is to export an obj or stl mesh from Cinema. Open a desired scene in Studio and import the needed objects or file.
Yeah, its not at all desireable, but it has let me continue with my desired render.

Boris, I have never had this problem with 0.7c. But it is definitely worth a try to see what the is causing this.
Can you send a stripped down version of this scene to maxwell tech (see website) so they can see this?
Or post a screen shot of your setup in C4D and the 0.7c render dialogue to see what the error could be, are you on MacOS?

0,7c? Where can i get it? Mine says 0.7b!
Yes i'm on Mac!
The stripped down version works perfectly, no sence in sending it!
May this happen due to hidden geometry?

Make sure you have the one that was released on 4/26/06 (0.7c).
Post a screen shot of your object hiearchy.

I have that one, yes! It just says 0.7b - that confused me

The object hierarhy is too big to post, but i can say that i have a maximum of 4-5 groups deep as well as some booleans and loft/extrude objects. some of the extrudes are then part boolean objects.
And i also have quite a lot of hidden objects, most of them are parts of archicad drawing that i currently dont need, or they are reference ones (furniture placement etc)
Hope this can be enough.
PS the project deadline is tomorrow morning, so i'm busy doing final HD renders, so after i give them to my customer i will have time to dig into this project and experiment witn it!
Luckily i managed to choose good AR settings to achieve some good quality in this one, noot as good as MW coul give, but definitely something!

hi boris,
i also never have problems like this.
maybe some "rules to work:
:: alsways make a copy of the original file with only the things in it that will be rendered
:: i always merge all objects that have the same material. it is a big difference in having 1000 objects or one big one with the same geometry- one needs less ram and renders a LOT faster-(this is true also for c4d, FR and vray.)
::when importing from archicad you have an option to export by color, then already all are merged like described above. do optimize your archicda modells-they tend to me nasty, with lot of double surfaces and points.
::if you hide groups, make sure all children are alos hidden, this is a stupid limitation in maxwellplugin right now. guess this is solved in 1.1.
::make sure none of your custom mxms have default as internal name. this makes troubles. i always export my newly made materials and then reimport them, so they work. this is a nasty bug in 1.0, but it works with thid workaround. this must be fixed in 1.1.
:: here maxwell works very well and stable, i use the 3gb switch on winxp. dont know of course how this is in mac-version, maybe this has more problems.
hope it helps a bit...
cheers

I tried to do some of the things i was adviced:
doublechecked all the hidden geometry and deleted it.
Now Cinema thinks a little and than qiuts, rather than just quitting as it used to!
Anyway, my customer is pleased with the result, so I have this project as a test one for complicated cinema+maxwell work.
Will try to make it function properly, than make some minor improvements and render it in all the Maxwell BEAUTY!
Wish me luck! hehe

Just don't understand...
Everything that was hidden - deleted.
all the materials - default diffuse.
all the scene stripped down to plain walls.
No way. cinema quits.

Here, i have stripped the scene down as much as i could, merged almost everything... Still no work...
It would be much appreciated if somoone can dowload and test the scene...
Its 600+ kb only.

The only thing I can see in the scene is that some of your objects don't have UVW maps.
I don't know if that is the problem.
If it is, try to convert your other maps (spherical e.t.c.) to UV, using the "texture" menu in the object manager, having the texture tag selected.
I have no experience whatsoever, so this is just a long shot.
Good luck!

I'm on cinema 9.101. I can read and render your scene.
Didn't encounter any problem. No crash, nothing. Just loaded the scene, started maxwell and hit render after setting the cam + threads.

*Kills himself against the wall*
Ok. Seems to me the problem is with my copy of C4D then...
