I heard many things have been corrected and figured out.
It would be nice to see it.

Its useful for making mxs and mxi files which you open in Studio for rendering.
Which is not near the functionality one would expect from a rendering plug in.

That's it exactly. I've also found it convenient to bring in my camera from Cinema. Saves a lot hassle dealing with the Maxwell camera.
Just knock off all your Cinema materials, put a Maxwell "diffuse" tag on everthing except camera and *emitters* which have their own tags, and you're good to go.
One trick I use when rendering with the plug is to set my render time to 1 min. That gives me a relatively quick mxs file/scene to open in Studio.
The fact it looks like crap doesn't seem to matter. Its just creating the Maxwell mesh for opening in Maxwell.

you don't have to do that. if you don't assign a material mw does it for you (a green diffuse).

why don't you just hit the stop button after voxelisation?
and leave environment unchecked.

or you can uncheck rgb in the plugin so mw will just write the file and then stop by itself.

Thanks, great tips.
I installed maxwell less than two weeks ago.

Well, I *thought* the C4D plug in was a useful way to create the mxs file needed by Studio.
Until last night, when it quite doing even that task.
Now it won't voxelize at all, and mxcl instantly says there is an error, faulty mxs file, even though it has not *made* an mxs file.
So I had to export dxf file from Cinema and open in Studio. Which is *not* the way to make emitters., as the mesh is too dense.
Obviously the plug in needs updating.

Last night the Cinema plug in started working again. It now serves its function as file converter, C4D>MXS.
I don't really like posting negative stuff, but I've run into some totally whacky behavior with Maxwell Studio as well as the C4D plug.
And it seems only fair to post when something actually works.

I don't see why NL hasn't put a button in there to just "Save MXS file". That would avoid the unnecessary hassle of kicking off a rendering you don't even want just to output (convert) to a MXS file.

we have to be masters of useless skill to use C4D Plugin...

And what's worse is that the plugin hasn't changed for over a year!!!
