hi rendertaxi,

if you dont mind i would like to ask u few questions.

as you made some very nice archviz images with beta already!

as far as i have understand you never use cooperative rendering. so what hardware do you use and how long does it take to get it relatively noisefree.

do u use neatimage to reduce noise or something like it?

do u use physical sky with it? do u also use additional light sources?

vielen Dank:-)

ciao
stefan

ps.: do u use rc5 or beta now?

hi stefan,

sorry it took so long to answer your questions!
concerning cooperative rendering: i´ve tried it, but it was not really usable and the effect was not very good. i got better results in letting the two computers render the same image and merging these in photoshop..

our workstations are dual 2.8/3.2 xeon computers.
most of the images shown in our gallery are rendered at 2048x2048 and took between lets say 16 to 120 hours (over the weekend / over christmas..), then downsized to web resolution and thats how you see them.. seem pretty noisefree then!
another possibilty is trying neatimage, as you said. the demo version can only save jpgs, but that´s fine for some purpose.

most images are done with physical sky only, as all the glass looks strange if it casts shadows just like a solid material.. but some are also done with sunlight, then i switch off the glass for an interior for example.
all images there were done with beta, i haven´t found time to rerender old scenes or rendern new ones with rc5.. unfortunately!

i hope my answers were helpful to you. if you have further questions you want to tell in german, just send a PM or email me.

cheers, alex
