When I try to access the plugin I see that it's called version 1.0.

When I set the options (I cqan no longer choose a camera...) and press either render or write mxs file I get messages like:

"Maxwell constructor"

"Maxwell cannot be initialised. Check installation rules"

"Maxwell Not initialised"

Now I have already checked if Maxwell is actually OK to run and it is... It starts up, can read and render MXS files and also Maxwell Studio talks fine to Maxwell Render. But from Cinema I can not render or write files to the Maxwell renderer...

Any hints or tips to get it working again?

Thanks in advance.

Albert

Had the same problem here, i had to update the materials, seems to work fine now! I had this issue when the scene contained some custom MXMs with Windows paths (i work on a Mac and the scene was set up on Win machine). As soon as i corrected all the paths the render started fine.
BUT, i also deleted and removed from trash both the old plugin files from C4D folder and from my downloads folder too.
Don't know which was the reason - but now it works.
And one more thing, check that mxm and mxs files are correctly associated with MXED and MXCL apps by double clicking on them!
When i downloaded the latest UB version of Maxwell and installed it, the connection was somehow lost. This is another possible reason for it.

Both Maxwell Render standalone and Maxwell studio work just fine and I can edit materials in the material editor but Cinema 4D plug keeps giving me the same messages and basically does not connect to Maxwell...

hmm, are you sure you TOTALLY removed the old non-UB maxwell and the old plugin from your computer? It matters a lot in case of a mac. As i understand, sometimes it doesn't matter where on the HD the app is, when you are on a mac, maybe there is some conflict as C4D finds 2 versions of MW on your computer.
Just guessing.

There was an archive folder on a backup volume and I zipped it to get rid of active applications and now it works.

Only now whenever I quit Cinema it goes out with a bang. It crashes and the crash log show Maxwell as the culprit that does the crashing.

Is this a known?

Albert
Yep. For me, Cineme exits with a crash window all the time. But as i understand it is quite harmless.
