ERROR: - UVW channels ( 0 ) .......

ERROR: - UVW channels ( 0 ) on object "KITCHEN2:painting" not enough for material "KITCHEN2:Imported OBJ Object:painting"
This is the error I get if I try to render my scene through Lightwave.
Please note that material preview works fine and doesnt give any errors. I tried deleting all UV maps, surfacing in Lightwave with standard mapping methods and I still get the same error.

did you check the mxm files to make sure all maps in there are using the same uv set?
this error usually crops up when you have an mxm that uses more than one
uv channel.....but there is only one set of uvs found on the object
im not sure about what is happening in lightwave, but this is a maxwell generated error that i saw quite a bit while implementing a layers feature in the houdini plugin
you can add another uv layer to your object per lightwave methods or remove
the offending map(s) from the mxm to fix the error

There is a problem with objects that have multiple layers and multiple surfaces. It has been fixed already and an update will be available shortly.

I hate to bump such an old thread, but I'm still experiencing this problem, both in render from Lightwave, and also in Maxwell Studio. Has the multiple surfaces/one layer thing been fixed and mine is a strange bird, or what?

CJElven, if you pm me a scene with just the object that's causing the problem I can tell you how to fix it. This error means there aren't enough Uvmaps for the material you have applied, or there are no uvs applied at all and so it can't map a bitmap to the object. The solution in Studio is adding a second uv set to the object in Studio (if your object uses a material with textures set to use channels above channel 0), or simply add a uvset to the object.
If you have no idea what i'm talking about...

search in the manual for "UVW channels" and you'll find an explanation for this error and how to fix it.

if u have object with the same textured material on different layers this plugin give this message and wont render ... the solution? put all objet having the same textured material on the same layer
