I think it could work like the link in Photoshop layers. You select one light and then link other lights to it so when I change one the others follow. If I want to change one of the group just unlink and change it independently.

That's just too messy to keep track of, better use named groups of lights sorted in alphabetical order. Otherwise you get all grey haired before you even got started adjusting your lights..

Maybe they could just add a value field where you could type combinations of existing channels like:

1,2
1,2,3
3-7
4,6-9
2,3,5,10,23-45

That could do.
