hi all,
i rendered an image on 2 different machines (macpro 8 core and macpro 4 core.

when i tried to merge the mxi it says that both had the same seed???

why and what can that be? i though when rendering on different pcs the seed is adjusted automaticly?

thanks for help!

If you are using the mxcl network render the seed is adjusted automatically and also the merging occurs automatically.

If you started each machine seperately then you need to set the seed manually via command line -idcpu switch.

i thought it is NOT necessary to set this id manually. different computers have different cpus, therefor should have different cpu-ids. the command line setting should be for overriding the automatic setting.

having to set this via command line would be a big step back from setting it in the render window in 1.1

could someone from nl PLEASE say clearly how it works?!

well - the capital letters were just used to emphasize that i thought the opposite was correct - and the bold was just bold like "i would really like to know how it works".

no need to take it as an insult.

i really would like to have this setting back like it was in the render display in 1.1, where i could set the seed.

edit: but i also might settle for this: http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=23393
