yep.- i was too lazy to export the model as dxf again to solve that problem (i guess it is to be solved that way as cinema - maxwell cia *.obj doesnt work)..

sorry..

edit: @BEM: regular mxcl-render,. :)

I had that exact same feeling. Especially after looking at an image by Zoppo.

Wohoo, this is the type of render I hope for my car some day, I would really much want to know all about the setup and light :) And the material is pretty damn good tooooo. Great job

well first> justgreat great great rc render, probably the BEST rc render ive seen (although all other rc renders look like they are out of the 90's)
this si Definatly the way RC should render, so really great job on your setup and scene, and again, this is inspirational, great work whole heartedly the rc engine, im a big fan of car renders and tis one kicks butt..
-i lke what you did with the ps'd image to adding inthe lights great touch!-

I'm not getting any different results when i turn off caustics under my "engine" tab in maya , but I know you are rendering from the c4d plugin, that is way more developed than the maya plugin.

I know for me, there is a section both for preview Tab and Engine tab that is called render layers, and in there you check on/off direct and indirect caustics, but right now there is absolutely no difference wheter they are on or off, the image still renders with the firefly's and caustics look like they are enabled even tough i check off cuastics

can you check in c4d if you have control in any section of c4d that sayhs layers: direct/.indirect illum, direect/indiret reflectoins, and direct/indirect caustics (they are all on in the "engine"tab in maya by default) (in the "preview" tab they are all off exept direct/indirect ilumination)

right now im thinking you have no firefly's for either two reasons:
A) like you sid your operons, blazing fast and eliminating the firefly's b4 they show up
b)the c4d plugin is one of the more developed pluginins our right now c4d dec07 vs maya dec05) and maybe theres something that fixes the firefly's in the new plugs.... Anyone have firefly's in the 3dsMax dec10 plugin?
(i dont know why the plugins would make a difference, since they all get rendered throuhg the same rc3 render engine)

--anyfeedback to your c4d settigns would be appreciated..

--AND BTW, Anyone know where in STUDIOMX to turn off/on caustics ?
i looked and looked and in studio MX i cannot find this option anywhere..
and no matter wheter preview or rc3 engine renders through in studio mx i get firefly's

hi.. im not rendering via cinema4d-plug at all.. i export all the geometry as obj and import it in MXStudio.. no materials applies.. raw geometry.

ah.. and one thing to add: the image was rendered on my P4 3,0Ghz.. I totally forgot that..

thanks for your comments on this.. :)

ok great thanks for the answer to the plugin question.

So how/where did you turn off caustics from in MXstudio?
