well, without knowing the settings for your current textures it's plain guessing...

I would guess:

- aluminum on your wheels is too bright, is the colour set? Move the colour down towards black until the aluminum looks right. The bloom is caused by the hilites blowing out, the contrast doesnt go down, but up. Keep in mind we form our view of reality based on what we are used to. We don't often see objects in a completely white world, to create realistic metal it's all about what it reflects. Think... Big sphere with MXI texture of inside a room... etc.

- Rubber is not very reflective, and somewhat rough. Try plastic, 80% grey, UV set to .8. You may have to put texture in the reflection channel to bring down the overall level of reflection. (need to know what package you work with) If it's Lightwave there is much on this forum for that. Other packages... don't know.
