Hi,

Here is an animation about the norwegian union, an organization that help you in different parts of your life.
The voice is in norwegian, but please take a look at the images created with Maxwell, and let me know what you think.

Some frames from the animation:

Characters modeled by Thomas Lishman (http://www.tlishman.co.uk)
Animated in Maya by Brian Horgan (http://www.graphite9.com)
Rendered in Cinema 4D with Maxwell and comped in After Effects.
We also used Ranch Computing on several of these shots.

Wow, that vapor refraction! Is it added in the post or directly rendered? :o

Thanks Abed!

Tom, haha - the soup he is cooking is just crazy hot :) Its added in post, I found the vapor refraction so nice that I kept it in such a "strong" visible effect.

The kitchen scene is where this really stands out. It's that subtle blend of a stylized/cartoony look, plus realistic lighting and materials, which results in a gorgeous aesthetic.

Thanks Hatts and Hervé, just trying to create images with Maxwell in the same ridiculous high standard that all you guys do.

I´m slowly getting there :)

Have a happy easter!

It's very nice, but I think it might benefit from a final overall color grading that maybe increases contrast a bit, and warms up the high end while cooling the low end, or something like that.

Very impressive work. There is only one thing really bugging me. In the kitchen scene, I'm missing some contact shadows on the floor around his feet, it feels a bit like he's just floating in the scene - this is especially noticeable when he lifts his leg up and there is no shadow on the ground.

Otherwise, I agree with hatts, I think the combination of the cartoony and more realistic aspects gives it a very unique and fun style. Nice job!

Thanks jfrancis and jrockstad for your comments.

Grading is so subjective, this is the version client liked the best. We have done several "directions" with the grading, and ended up with something quite "plain".

But I agree regarding your specific grading tip - that would suit the project nicely.

Exellent spotted Jrockstad, its a bad comp. The shadow pass did not make the final cut it seems :) After staring at small details, such large ones often goes undetected.

Cheers,
Tor M
