Yes, we used Bongo - at that time the Bongo2 Beta.
But I couldn't really recommend it. It works fine for simple animations, once you understand the user interface but it gets very slow with a lot of animated objects (e.g. the timelapse scene from the Expo Milano Animation)
At that time I also had to use a lot of rhino script to make it work the way I needed it. One script for exporting the mxs, as this did not work very well with bongo itself at that time. One script for the moving sun animation and one script for importing an obj-sequence with the animated curtain for this video: https://vimeo.com/80273036
I think, I'll try 3dsMax for the next complicated animation ...
