Hello everyone, my name's James and I'm a 2nd year Product Design student at the University of Brighton, UK.
I've got tons of renders to share with you for feedback and critique, but I'd like to start with a project of mine that was featured on Yanko Design: http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/04/12/k ... -olympics/
I wasn't happy with the way the renders looked on Yanko (partly lack of effort on my part and partly Yanko's reporters being overly generous with Photoshop's Brightness/Contrast sliders), so I decided to go back a few weeks later and have another stab:
HDRI courtesy of http://www.hdrlabs.com (Newport Loft). Post-work with Alien Skin Exposure.
----------
One of my first projects that I used Maxwell on was this:
There are 3 white emitters, to the left, right, and behind the camera. Behind the speakers is an emitter with a gradient MXI applied. The interface/display was made in Photoshop, saved as an HDR and applied as an emitter in additive mode (needed a mask as well). For reflections the floor has an Nd of 1.01(!) The main speaker material was made using R2 (so cool and so much fun).
The project also spawned these designs:
Much simpler lighting this time, just a studio backplane and 2 temperature emitters at either side. Sorry about the texture repeating but it was either cubic projection and repeat or cylindrical and distort. Only your trained eyes will spot it
This project was featured on many sites, eg: http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colem ... g-speakers
These renders are from my 2010 projects:
Adjustable sunglasses for chronic hypersensitivity sufferers:
Orbiting animation: http://www.youtube.com/embed/pOIdy-IBZiY
Wall mounted folding chair for Vitra:
Post processing with Photoshop & Alien Skin Exposure.
Animation of the assembly & usage: http://www.youtube.com/embed/HjjqQaH-jNs
All feedback and constructive criticism is welcome.
