this is my first attempt to make a chess set, and I hope you like it:

these are the setting for the shot:

Camera
- Focal Length = 50mm
- Shutter = 1/30
- F Stop = 5.6

Engine
- Max Bounces = 6
- No Environment

Lightning & Materials
- One D65 Emitter on the left with Intensity = 1000
- Black Material: Black Plastic with Reflection = 20 and Roughness = 0.55
- White Material: Light Cyan with Reflection = 20 and Roughness = 0.5
- Gold Material: Gold Metal with Roughness = 0.4

and this is the wireframe...

Something is off.
It looks very CG.

well, yes. you got some modelling problem (bishop and knight) and the wood of the board doesn't look right, maybe some soft reflections and a bit of bump would help. the model doesn't look scaled correctly, usually those kind of shots have a shorter depth of field.

yep, you got the point.. i forgot the shininess and bump on the wood, and the table is a simple green, because i'm haveing big trouble setting textures in rhino plugin :(
also the scale was a bit too high, that queen is a half a meter tall! :lol:
