This is my first test with maxwell:
about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2:45
13 sampling level, & 14 for the third ..

Somehow the structure seems too heavy to be supported by such thin columns only in the perimeter.

Actually it is more than likely correct. This particular style of architecture is prevalent in Islamic countries and has a long history of development and refinement. It is just a different application of proportions.

the inner sculpting looks very much like the ones at Alhambra, nice work!
I don't think this ceiling would hold though....
