I love the lighting in this one. A bit grainy but still loving the render!

I purchased maxwell a few weeks ago. I wish i had the opportunity to use it in the challenges. oh well, maybe next year.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks John,

I do hope I make it to the fourth round, I have some surprises in mind for how to do this one in the time we have.

I wanted the lighting to be more like the what I had in the wip section. The glass kind of weakened the "light streaming" in effect. I think I will add a emitter for some stronger sunlight to stream in from above!

I plan to do more with this one so I can submit it to Ballistic Publishing.

Thanks for comments. I think next year is going to be unbelievable because people now have an idea of what to expect from the challenges.

Hope to see you as well next year!

Thanks TOM for the comments!

Falconking, I had a time with getting the compositing to work because this one is really a hard one to integrate because it was not done with this particular background image in mind during the scene setup.

I may rework it somewhat when I re-render this one with the Maxwell Render Beta!

EDIT: maybe i was wrong (no coffee yet) it's hard to see in your image..but if the spyders sit on pylons and those ar fixed on the floor underneeth it's okay..but then agai..what are thos long long rods for? thex would bend alone cuz of their weight..
Hello Betty,

I had hoped that by using the rod size that I have, I could avoid using little vertical supports for the spiders. The rod is held in tension on the ends and secured a the step wall and again by a smaller plate on the sloping ends. I have not see spiders used in this manner, so I will definitely work on making it lighter and structurally sound as I want you to read the sloping floor more than the glass plane above. The glass plane above is merely so that we can walk above the slope.

Thanks for your comments and the lookup about Nicolas Grimshaw and Partners!

Lovely image mate. I must admit I've never used a planar fitting for a floor as it's much cheaper to use back to back aluminium angle and glazing tape.

I admire you for trying maxwell in the competition and its a shame you didnt make the next round.
