Hi Guys & Girls

I love cars and car design, but have never visualized any before! Suddenly I felt the urge to do so :P

Here goes my first attempt

First a cool car needs a nice set of wheels! What better than the 21" RSX Diamond from Kahn:

And the cool car must be the Audi Q7:

Hope you like it. CC are much appreciated :)

Nice start, perhaps boosting the environment so that its reflecting a lot stronger in the car windows and such would help. Also the taillight trail needs more punch and contrast/brightness. The wheels look a little flat, that could very well be the design, but try and add some material to them. Like a fine brushed aluminum texture, if there is already one forgive me. Apart from those things i'm liking the set up you have here :)

Thanks for your comments!

I think you are right about the shape of the wheels, a bit too flat. The wheels are polished, but for the look of them, they could need some texture.

Well I wasn't sure about the all black environment and windows, but its 8) Gangsta 8) style, haha!

When I look at the pictures in the browser, they miss some of the reflection details that are visible when seen in photoshop :? Why is that? I work in 8 bit in photoshop, the same as the jpgs, so this cannot be the reason!

It looks to me like you need to add a large flat emitter above the vehicle.

Agreed Buballoo, bpositive I think I downloaded a short time ago another member's link to some studio hdr set ups as well. I am not too sure if these are still up or not, but if you can manage to find them, these are also a good way to experiment with possible emiter placements.

Cheers,

To be your very first attempt at car rendering it's not bad at all, but i'm gonna have to say it could look a lot better. :)
If i had my carstudio released now then you could have used that to render your car with relative ease and good quality. But soon.. soon... ;)

Keep working on this, i'm sure you can create a good looking setup for it!

Thanks Guys, no girls I'm afraid...!

I've just downloaded those studio HDRI's and looking forward to try them. They look splendid :D

Gonna play around with them as soon as I get some time.

Not familiar with that, is it good or bad??? :P

The car is unfortunately not modeled by my self, its from the Evermotion HD Car collection.... I surely don't have the time to model cars, and probably not the patience and ability as well...! Though I would love to try :)

BTW. Can anybody tell me, why my pictures lack a bit of detail, especially some brightness and reflections when not viewed in photoshop?

Great start! Also to give the alloys more life add fillets to the sharp edges! :)
