Open Adobe Premiere, import the still images, put them after each other in the timeline, add cross dissolve at the end and beginning on each image.
Place each image so the end-cross-dissolve on image one starts at the same time as start-cross-dissolve starts on image two.
If you should do it for real, you should save out each image in the following way:
Emitter 1
Emitter 1+2
Emitter 1+2+3
Emitter 1+2+3+4
And so on, that gives the most realistic result.
