This is a sculpture designed by one of my co-workers entered into a competition for the Tulsa, Oklahoma Centennial Celebration.
I modeled it in Max9 from his sketches and put together a presentation and we won.
So now they are going to build it in downtown Tulsa (very near to where I work).
This is a render of the sculpture on it's simply modeled base and surroundings so that the city can decide how big to build it.
Tulsa's history is heavily rooted in the oil industry, hence the design concept.
The base of the sculpture is going to include a water feature that erupts water every few minutes like an exploding oil derrick.
We are very proud of this!
Thanks for any comments.

Congrats, that is really nice !!

I found it very impressive, it have some kind of "oil rig from the future" look.

Some kind of Half-Life 2 look also.

Very modern, very diferent from everything we see in everyday life.

You americans have a very good memory, always building nice momorials and landmarks, for both good or bad reasons.

Here in Brazil we don“t have that feeling, always leaving behind the stuff we should remember and learn from.

There is a mental ray version of this on my gallery page at the bottom which is a close-up.
This was actually my first model completely done in Max, so it is very basic. I would actually like to re-model it more realistically sometime if I have time.
