The SilverSurfer.. on a skateboard :)

G'day!
Here's my latest thingy, and i hope it qualifies for the gallery section here or maybe i should have posted it in the testrender section. If so a admin can move it there.
Anyways this took 15 hours to render and it reached the sampling level of 14 in that time, i got bored to wait anylonger since in 9 hours it only calculated 3 sampling levels.
Btw, i know there are issues with the mapping in this rendering, i tiled it too many times on the walls and on the grip surface of the skateboard but i'll fix that another time.
There are 3 light in this scene, one on the upper left, one flashlight above the camera lens, one slightly down below to the right.
Some other info are as follows..
fStop: 2,0
Shutter Speed: 2000
Diaphragm: Polygonal
Blades: 12
Blade Angle: 24

ooh yeah, like it!, think the DOF 's too strong though, the silver man should be in focus i feel

thanx Ric, and actually i agree with u on the dof. It's just a bit too strong and focus should been set on the little metal guy on the skateboard. But i kinda noticed the big mistake after 15 hours of rendering since i went to bed when it started. O well.. i'll make a better one later on.
I'm happy someone liked my pic even tho it's somewhat silly

well, i like the idea, but the rendering time

3 samples in 9 hours its too unpredictable, or maybe u've used a lot of bounces, how many ?

Heh yea i hate the extremely long renderingtime for this, thank god for the bed and some comics

But i only had 8 bounces for this scene, not alot really but i guess the dof is what stole the hours for me :/

ohh yeah, it could be that, but still 8 bounces are a lot, use 4 or 5 maximum(this skatebord isnt in an interior space right?)and i see you dont use any dialectric on ur scene, so why you should need 8 bounces ?....ohh yeah, and i dont think dof affects the rendering time, does it ?

Hmm.. but how do u know how many bounces to use when and where and in what situation ? that's very much unclear to me right now.
But umm.. yea it's not a indoor scene, u got that right. It's a outdoor enviroment even tho a simple one.
I bet that dof affects the renderingtime too just like everything else.

2. How should I use the bounces setting?
This controls the maximum number of times that a light ray can bounce in a scene. It affects rendertime so it's important not to set it too high. For simple exteriors perhaps 4-6 would be enough. For complex interiors where light has to reach far into the room and it has complex geometry, a setting of about 10-16 would be better. It depends ofcourse on the scene so if you see very little light reaches some parts of the room, increase the bounces a little. Be careful though because increasing bounces, you tend to loose contrast in the image, plus it will take a bit longer to get rid of the noise since more calculations have to be made.

nice little scene you got there, for the computer specs that you got there, I can see that render time.

Great render! (Though the DOF kinda ruins it..)

Well heh.. ofcourse not but i might have messed up the typing so it looks like i sleep that long, if i did i wouldn't get anything done in the days. I'll catch 6-8 hours a night now
