Tyres - some 10 million polygons

Some minor touch-up and colour correction. Sky was comped afterwards. Large resolution render, 6000 pixels wide. Had to cook the metalparts separately to get past the noise. I believe I let them stew for about 35 hours on an eight core Mac Pro with 8 Gb Ram. Hilarious.

Fantastic modeling and lighting!! Great job!! The only minor comments are that the pine tree looks like feathers and the snow is too "specular".

The composition is good, i just find the lens a little bit too small (too strong distortion).

Also there is something wrong with some materials (rubber and metal). They don't look natural.

Otherwise it's a really great render. The atmosphere is fantastic.

I agree with hyltom's distortion problem. Except my initial opinion was that such strong perspective would show some fisheye distortion with it rather than just extreme fov.

very nice work. super atmosphere !
and i don´t agree about the materials of the snow, metal and rubber being unnatural. they look pretty good to me. it is the artificial lighting that may lead to this impression - but this contibutes to the great atmosphere !

there is one thing that i find disturbing though. the cornifers don´t look convincing. maybe drop them and replace them with either some of the other trees you used or with better cornifers.

cheers

Thanks for the input guys. The scene was modeled in 3ds Max and rendered using the plugin. Evergreens from the standard library in Max, with clip maps applied, some trees were found on the net, and there was some freeware tree software I found on the net.

The artificial lighting and the very exaggerated perspective were designed to enhance the particular message of the ad. The tyres look pretty much like this IRL, I have a physical reference in my studio - some kind of varnished aluminium... I could probably have worked with the trees some more - but deadlines...

Anyway - thanks.
