Hi.

This is a small project I helped some students with. They invented this hanger and wanted a nice picture of it. So this is what I came up with.

If you could use a higher resolution wood map, that'd look better. ;)

Definitely wouldn't have thought that was a Maxwell image...

personally I love the image... however it is quite stylized and 'cg' looking. I figure that's mostly due to the lighting. Lighting makes or breaks a render in the 'reality' department. Try a stronger more directional light sources. Allow for shadows.

Try using HDRI lighting also with an actual indoor pano. The geometry looks good, just the rendering is a problem.

of course, if you were shooting for high gloss CG, then forget everything I just wrote. :D

Thanks all.

Tom, I will have that in mind until next time. ;)

Mike, Why? Is it cuz the lightning?

deadalvs, no, its not a all-girl-class, but the girls in the class are taking the leaders. ;) So, I guess you are right.

jurX, I will upload it later today. I forgto about it. (Its really just a nCloth-test, nothing special)

iandavis. You may be right, but it was a non-payed job for some students, and I didnt want to spend to much time setting up lightning. And I already used an indoor HDRI...
