My First Image...

The image was intended as a photo of a 1:50 scale model, to avoid too much detailing in this competition entry. It took 12hrs to reach SL 15 (if I remember correctly) on a dual xenon dual-core, 3.0ghz with 4GB ram...

heh, had to remove the clients logo on top of the main facade...

Poor child...so young! Do you think he can avoid the crash?
The mayor of papertown should invest in some traffic light!

Very nice render, and your scene scale is really nice. It seems to be a miniature correctly. :)

Hi JTB.

I modeled the scene in Architectural Desktop 2007, file linked it and put on materials in VIZ 2007. A very quick and efficient solution for a model with many objects with similar material properties. Probably easier ways to do it, but I find it very convenient that when I choose e.g. a slab and assign a material, VIZ will automatically give all slabs (with the same style) the same mat.

I know, I use Revit and the same procedure... Too bad there is not a plugin for Autodesk products other than Max/Viz.
I have tried to learn ADT (from ADT 3.3) but I didn't like it and I found Revit to be much easier and with a small learning curve at least for the average models. There is a loooong wishlist for Revit as I guess is for ADT but I think there is a great future ahead...

Really nice image. The quality of light in the interior of the buildings is some of the nicest I've seen for a while. :)

Less is more...even in modeling, sometimes! I really like this one and completely agree with DrMerman...overall tuning of light is almost perfect for my taste

As I said above, very nice...

I was just wondering whether you made all the little white models or whether they were a download? It's a very nice way of putting in a human scale without compromising realism.

Thanks for all nice replies, I'm truly flattened :D

acquiesse, the models for the cars was grabbed off cben.net while I made the people myself - extruded 2D polylines... Pretty easy, but I like the overall effect.

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to texture maps, never unerstood how to get them to work, so I'm really happy for maxwells supeb lighting and easy diffuse / glossy plastics!
