You should like it. It looks good.

Do you mind sharing it?

Can't share the texture (it's a modified Evermotion map).

Another one, same material settings, different map. (Multilight and exposure settings are a little different.) I'll post the material settings tomorrow when I get a chance.

It looks amazing, the wood and the cast iron handels. You should definetly post this, i think ismore than just a test.
Question, could you give me some tips on the cast iron? i am working ojn a project now that has a lot of cast iron but once the light hits it it becomes very grey and faded. How did you do to make it so well.
check my problem on the WIP under Savannah civic center and you'll se what i'm talking about.
Great work.

I second this! I had this problem too, and would like to know a solution! (though it is kinda late to make any changes)
Great mats!

The second post is just exceptional.

the second one is really nice, but at full res de bump looks a bit high/pixelated! But the over-all look is just perfect (it's hard to do micrometer realistic textures for all objects of a scene even if we all wish to do so!!

Is your second BSDF layer grey? This will contribute to the problem you're having.
If the first layer has a reflectance image map, load the same map into the second layer as well.

I posted the metal material here (nothing special really):
http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/new ... e=0&id=745
I rendered a bunch of stuff last night with the same basic wood material, but using a finish board that I scanned. I'll try to post that one today or tomorrow.
And tokiop is right- this material works best on closeups. If you step back, it doesn't get pixellated as such, but the non-glossy areas become too prominent. I usually turn off the bump if I'm rendering from a distance, and sometimes decrease the contrast on the reflectivity map. Blurring the bump and reflectivity maps also helps.

And another. Yes, this is pretty much all I use Maxwell for.
