I really need to expand my portfolio of images, and my modelling skills are a little.....non existant. So I thought I'd model something reasonably simple and make an image out of it. Well actually, two images (both from same render).
What do you guys think? It rendered for 12 hours and reached SL 19. The first image is a straight render. For the second I lowered the ISO and adjusted the colours to be more interesting in Photoshop.

The top image is more convincing to me, depiste the burn out on the white materials.
Modeling rocks.
Well done.
Tim.

cool...have to agree with Tim...before I read the text, I thought the first image was a reference.

...so, what's modeled, and what's bumped?

Thanks guys. Yeah I was going for the "photo taken in bright sun" look and the first one does look more realistic. Do you think I should lower the ISO slightly? Or leave it as glared out as it is?
Everything bumpable was bumped.

All the groves on the inside and outside, plus the text which reads "Plastic Pegtastic tm" hehe.
EDIT: Here's one with the Burn reduced from 0.8 to 0.4
And here's the unexciting wire.

Modeling looks good, detailed and precise. This would be a great scene to test different types of plastics. Some translucent pegs might look nice here

Very good

and lovely modeling. But i don't get that part where you say you cannot model, this is difficult stuff to model (
i can't do it).
Real nice work!

Yeah, I initially started to make translucent plastic with SSS but I thought it might be too slow, so I changed it. Now that I know the scene looks good I'm happy to try other materials out!
Thankyou all for saying the modelling is good!

Maybe I'm not a bad modeller but I have low ‘modelling confidence‘, hehe. I just stumble along and it somehow turns out ok. Instead of a "make nice render" button I want one for models!

It looks like you have 2 equally strong lightsources in the scene. One in the top right angle and one to the left..
I would go for a more strong warm sidelight and a weak blue-cyan fill from the oposite....and also some nice sss in the material.
Nice model and comp.
