Hi,
a small test for a *big* architecture project
in Rome...
- Lightwave 3D 8.2 and MR alpha 1.32
- Sample 21
- Bounces 16

Torlonia project

ATTENTION: THIS IMAGE IS NOT MAXWEEL FOR NOW, BUT IT'S AN OLD IMAGE RENDERED IN LIGHTWAVE 3D.

Thank a lot Tom and Harvé,
the project has a geometry of over 1 milion of polygons (without triangles).
I made it 3 years ago in LW with HDRI and with some of my friends (i call them Chromatika boys).
The name is "Villino Rosso" and it's an old real building in a great park
of Rome called "Villa Torlonia". Torlonia is an ancient a rich family of
Rome.

I'm polishing and optimizing the geometry and the textures of this old old
project, then i want make new trees (old one are made with a early
version of Xfrog and imported in LW). This image wins a greenworks
software contest, in change of this i receive all the version and library
about Xfrog for Windows... then exspects some xfrog trees tested in
maxwell with lw connection!

I want make it for maxwell but first i must resolve a problem with bump
textures (i made in 8 and 24 bit in jpg e tga format but maxwell map
them in bad way)...

Bump map resolved

Hi,
OK I'have resolved bump issue
(I transformed image file from grey to RGB as read in the forum)...
Any1 know if there is some bump depth control for the texture in LW 3D?
I think it's possible have some depth bump control only in the grey scale
of image used for bump for now...

Hi,
thanl all for the enthusiastic comments...
New image test,
- Correct bump on the marble texture.
- Bump mapping on the window wood.
- Sampling level reached 22.

Looks really nice... how long was it...?

BTW, could you put the image straight... it is on the side right now... :?ut the bump issue... well I have not niticed.. do U mean you take your greyscale bump image and save it as RGB...? :?:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
FIRST TEST WITH BUMP MAP ERROR ON THE FRAME MARBLE.

Hervè: the Image is clean enough from noise after 1 hour on PVI 3.4 and 1,5 GByte
RAM, but i'm making a test for a super cleaning and definition image
and now it reached sampling 22 in 17 hours in low priority task (i'm
working with the same workstation while rendering with maxwell)...

I have replaced the original image with bump error but i attach it again
now. Yeah i have saved in RGB the first grey bump image and there aren't
errors now but i have no control for the bump map, only the "strengt" of
grey scale...

hummm I see the bump error now... well, cool image ! Have you tried to add some dirt to the metallic fence a bit.. I haven't find a way of doing it... for metal... same goes for dielctrics..

maybe for the windows, change the color a little... I tried with a greyish sigthly blue, and it does not look so transparent... just a thought..

BTW, your marble texture rocks...

I am using textures from arroway, very good and it comes with the right spec map as well as bump...

Well, I want to see more of it...

also you could try an early evening or early morning render...

ps. I still have problem with uv mapping coord, seams like it I move something using the free move in lw modeler, it gets scrambled or funny map..

Do we get an update this Friday (also fixing tga prob.) :D

Hi,
new update on the old window image...
now there is a wall texture,
Its' possible to watch a problem on the marble texture near the wood
of windows (please Oscar UV and cubic mapping support for LW3D).

very nice textures ! improving each time...

I've sent a scene to Victor with UV and Cubic mapping problems...

good job

Complex texture problems..

Thanks Tom, Harvè and Maya69.
Another sustained problem means that the alpha mapping support for LightWave 3D has not still implemented in maxwell renderer.
We hope so in the near future...
