Figure detail
Image

In the midst of much more complicated 1.0 tests, I completed an image to use as my backdrop picture in Windows. I like it enough that I'm sharing.

The figure is an old Daz3d model that I generally did bad things to. The background is a procedurally displaced plane with noise, and there's another similar plane on the ground.

I like the figure, but the background texture looks cheese, IMO.

I completely agree about the background texture. So, I replaced it and re-rendered!

way better NICER bkgrnd!
Definatly has a better feel and atmosphere now withthe new background.. feels like hes definatlyin a hole somewhere..

Cool really dig the figure's pose..
Daz? thats something i hear alot on the forum.. Is it like poser?
Poser is kind of a weird program to work with.. allmost too easy- its anoying.. Is daz like poser interface?-really hate using poser great idea.. but the poser tools suck. i hate that big icon interface-i export all the poser models to maya and rig them now with The Setup Machine so i dont have to use poser to move/animate them.... how are figure quality comparded to poser.. again. lookin at this figure it looks great.. nice sculpted details..

Daz makes a collection of prebuilt figures. Initially, they made them for Poser. Now they have their own application (which is free http://www.daz3d.com ). This figure was actually done quite a long time ago in Poser. I edited it pretty extensively in Lightwave though.

Basically, this picture was just made with spare parts I had filed away doing nothing.

The new background is a displaced texture derived from a photo. I've got a pretty large collection of textures I've photographed and I never remember to use them. This particular texture is the inside of one of the prototypes for the first atomic bomb, after it was detonated with TNT as a test.
