Crowd Control - RC5 Render

Finally got around to play with RC5 - Haven't really touched the Studio yet, just straight from the plugin (3dsMax). I've just 'recycled' bits from various other pieces to do a test run.

Image reached SL12.2 at 13H. Original image size 5375x1000, 2.8 million polys. Only post work was to resize.

Water is dielectric - there's ground just a few inches below the surface, but the light angle was wrong for it to come through. Needed to subdivide the water some more (has sharp angles in reflections).

This a great image. Are they emerging from the water or are they about to drown? Who knows.

Great render.

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow will he leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'

Nice work...as usual! :)

that's a good one, it reminds me of those old juan munoz's works. have you ever seen any of those (well, yours actually looks as you drowned one..)?

Thanks all! Always a pleasure to hear from y'all!

I was VERY tempted to put some bird droppings on the poor fellow that's being used as a rest area. I may still do that - his expression is certainaly appropriate!

I think I also need to customize the texturing on the heads. Would like to have a water mark where the waves lap.

Anyway, thanks again everyone! I may eventually start playing around with Studio, if only to try the material editor.

Now, I just gotta come up with something that would actually make use of the advanced material fetures............. :?:

Thanks guys!

Here's a re-worked version: Smoothed out the water, and re-textured the stone heads with a water stained map. Also, I couldn't resist the bird droppings! 8) Used Glu3d for the poo, though I had a heck of a time trying to figure out what settings to use (does anyone know the actual viscosity, adherence and bounce settings are appropriate for droppings?  )

Be careful what you ask for.
