Here's my first try with the RC.
It's interesting, but the material was supposed to be red.
and beta 1.22

i'm afraid you have to pick another color, red transmittance doesn't work at the moment. don't know why, that's what victor said.

Yes, i read that in the limitations, but after it was already rendering. I just thought i'd point that out.

Please post in the maxwell forum, the gallery is for quality non wip images (I mean beta

) only.

As far as the refractions and reflections and caustics, there are some great things happening there. the plastic is looking far more real in the example above. granted, lighting is not equal, but I do see a bit of dielectric improvment as far as accuracy....

micha,
the beta is a final image.

Hum, I thought these white dots were supposed not to show with RC4 (see bug graveyard). A ghost bug for a ghost stool. I know NL guys make their best, but anytime I see an old beta render, I can't help feeling sad...

What is the attenuation distance?

i think it was around 39"

I think 39 inch is quite big for such thickness in your stool. Can you try it with 5-10 mm, I think the thickness of the plastic is no more than 5 mm. High attenuation will decrease absorbance and will cause loss in saturation.

Sure Tom, I'll give it a shot-- but I won't be able to for a couple of days because I have some production renders I am running now. After, I'll reinstall and give it a go. And thanks for the tips.
The plastic is 4 mm thick.
