"It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Thomas A. Anderson, program writer for a respectable software company. You have a social security number, pay your taxes, and you... help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in computers, where you go by the hacker alias "Neo" and are guilty of virtually every computer crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not..."

Wow

Great comments, great crits from great people ! Thank you everyone !

aitraaz: Yeah, the "SA" symbol is missing (I didn't feel like drawing it) :P

Mihai: Thanks, good point, yeah the emitter is a bit strong and burns out the specular.

MarkM: They are block instances.. no sweat.

Iker:  actually Master Magoo is more likely :)

tom: The plot thickens :P ... the red pill was designed for defiant individuals like neo. It tricks them into a sub-Matrix with specially designed adversity scenarios. There can be infinite nested matrices and the individuals are falling to the next consequtive level each time their mind grows suspicious of the existing.

rivoli: what ?

This one is still cooking, but I don't like it too much already.
There is nothing glamorous about flash-renders no matter how much lipstick is put on these pigs :P

Again stunning... but as I mentioned before the orientation on the curved part of the cable doesn't seem correct. It must be slightly twisting and twisting back again ;)

tom, I saw your comment, but now I am not sure what you mean.

Are you talking about the bow-tie memory effect ? meaning the tight bends should still be visible when the cord in un-wound ?

No, I mean a cord would behave like this... IMHO, you need to key the section orientation along extrusion path.
In rhino, you could easily do this by manipulating rotation of the cross sections...

oh, now I see what you mean !
Yes, this is an excellent point. Good catch.

Both wires of the cable should physically try to maintain constant length and the way I have it now is wrong, because the wire on the outer circumference of the bend travels longer (and thus stretches... but it shouldn't).
