Tea_Bag...Thank you, I appreciate it!

Nico...Thank you, I am playing with it but I am drawing the line on this image. SSS gave me fits and I never could hit it right. The first grapes were the result of my SSS fail.

Thanks guys!!

Tom, Thanks for your kind words!...Your adjustment to the grapes makes them a bit too light on my monitor as I have a plate of the real things sitting here...mine are closer. The wood back and floor to me is also a but too yellow but the textures do pop better....I do like the screen...and the crisp brightness of the image over all. The colors could really be my monitor though. I need to understand calibration for the web in more detail as I spent many years doing print work. I have to play around with every image I post to get it as close as I can to the original before posting as the colors, saturation and brightness changes so much when saved for the web. But fun as always...

Cheers, Ron

PS...I did a little deconvolution on the image...dump your browser cache or reload the page and take another look...a bit crisper now.

Thanks Tom, those are really nice...especially the first which shows the yeast coat in great detail.
The ones I have are of a different variety but your colors do match these very well.
The yeast coat has me intrigued, to do it right may take a different approach than I am using now.
I have been trying with maps but I think a better solution might be actual geometry with a clipping map.
Maybe a translucent surface over a bright glossy one?

Cheers, Ron

Great render! I do have a question about how dense the grapes feel though. The density of them feel a bit more like blueberries rather than grapes though. It might be a different type of grapes that are more dense but looking at the image without a knowledge of grapes. They seem too dense to me.

Regardless, the overall look, feel and render quality is great! Like a still life of an oil painter. I love it!

Sorry for double posting but I forgot to ask about the wheat. I noticed nobody
Has asked about it so far. How did you make it? Are those little whisks modleled or alphas? I would assume alphas off the top of my head but they look a bit nicer than that. They have a really nice delicate feel to them
