There seems to be a problem with instanced models having holes in the their geometry / missing polygons.
here's the scene with all the glass cabinets (and their surrounding ribbed walls) as standard polygon meshes, nested into models.
...and here's the same scene with the wall units as instances. You can clearly see the skydome through 'holes' in the ribbed wall parts of the instance.
The odd thing is that in the OpenGL viewport, the instance geometry is perfectly complete. It only falls apart when I render.
Any ideas about what is going on?
