is maya a good app for archi work?

I am shopping around for3d apps to render my archi work. How well does Maya handle architectural modeling? can you enter things in in units (ft. or in.)?

Yes, or at least I think so! I have been using for over a year now and there is no way I would switch back to Max. It is just as easy to import cad plans and trace over them, work to scale etc etc. Plus it can handle a lot bigger files and very rarely crashes... I guess this is down to the fact that there is so much stuff in it you don't need so many plugins which tended to crash Max.(Maxwell excluded of course

)

yes maya is good
but for me i prefere work with external modeler (hexagone)
i thinnk the progress in maya 7 is very interresting ( but i have a maya 6.01)
perso, i use maya for scene setup (place vegetation, car people etc)
i like maya for this but for polygone modeler i prefere hexagone).
maya is very powerfull this good choice !!!

I work with maya for a long time and do a lot of architecture work, have to import a lot of .dwg and it work's great. Tried sometimes to switch to max or Xsi, but always went back to Maya. It can handle very big scenes smoothly and has now several tools to speed up modelling process

The Best u can get
For archi but also animation, special fx, motion-tracking, modeling with poly, nurbs, subds
The best feature is that everything is keyable
