Hi all,
I know this has been said before but I can't find the right settings for my setup, well I think.
Normally I'm working that 1 unit is 1 meter, so what should be my settings in maya to be accurate with maxwell ?
really need some help...

By default Maya Units are centimeters, so what it really matters is that your scene goes in "real" units, for example, an apple size is the same in cms and in meters, I mean is always around 14 cms, but if your units are meters your apple will look so small in your grid (but is always going to be 14 cms size)
....understand?

When you say that you have to scale your architecture model 100 times to get something accurate you're saying all, for example, imagine a living room, if this living room is 8 meters per 5 meters and your units are cms (default Maya Units) you have to scale your scene to 800 units per 500 units, because if you're working in cms (1 unit=1cm) and you have to represent 8 meters , you have to scale your room until your room size is 8 meters = 800 centimeters = 800 units. And if you're working in meters, you just need 8 units to have 8 meters, so everything seems to be small but it isn't, it's just the units.
understand?

by the way thank's for the answer... Just tell me what settings you have

Can't tell you a standar settings, it depends on the scene to be rendered.

hmm well I have my settings for maya set at cm's, like its been said before very important for maxwells physically accurate camera, and accurate DOF.Start using the measure tool if you're not sure about a particular scenes scale would be my advice. Now that you ask I'm not sure what happens when i import a dwg file at scale of 0.001

maybe I'm wrong, but when you have cm settings and you model a house, it's just to big in maya, and all the tools, clipplanes, an so on go weird ...

yeah i think 1:1 dwg file is too big, but you can adjust clipping planes etc, dont have a dwg file handy but i was just wondering what happens to the scale when you import it at 0.001

I went back to meter settings, and when I have my modelling and my "base light" emitter (100w) it seems to be accurate... But it is still a bit uncontrolled for me. I would like to be sure.
Anyway I will wait for 1.0, because we don't know what there will change

I've made some experiences with the Maya units and cms is the right one. Now everything is working fine!!
