Hi ppl, made a simple scene, having a bot of trouble lighting it, unless I select skydome I get no light in the scene with use physical sky or use sunlight in the maxwell globals, anyone know whats going on here, a bug maybe or just my dud scene, here it is if anyone wants to take a look:

Brett,

I took a look at your scene. When I opened the scene, I checked the plugin manager - Mayatomr.mll (mental ray) was checked and mayall was unchecked. Mental ray causes a conflict with Maxwell so you have to make sure it is not loaded before using Maxwell. I resaved the scene (fixing the mental ray/maxwell conflict), then closed Maya and then restarted Maya/reopened your scene. I checked physical sky and sun light in Maxwell global, did a preview and it works fine now.

Give it a try.

Thanks wayne, I'd actually disabled mental ray but put the 6.01 update on after a reinstall, it must have enabled it again
Thanks for clearing that up!

Cheers

iker,

If I load mayall first then mental ray, everything is ok. But if I load mental ray first then mayall, I get "Error: line 1: initializePlugin function failed (mayall)". So I've just loaded one or the other and not both plugins at the same time and everything works fine. Using Maya 6.01.

If you change Los Angeles environment location to Madrid it renders perfectly, you are using strange settings in Turbidity and Ozone.

So if you change Turbidity to 3 it renders perfectly from Los Angeles as well.
