Instancing in Maya

Hi folks
Any news on when or if instancing will be supported? I've got a job that I'd love to do in Maxwell, but a lot of the geometry is instanced (it's a housing estate with 70 houses of 6 different types and all the windows, roof ridge tiles etc are all instanced).
Alternatively does anyone have a script for "de-instancing" geometry that works well and keeps UV mapping etc together, altohugh I think the polycount will go nuts then?
Thanks
Deri

I think that it the BonusTools there's a de-instancing tool.
You should check that

-edit- I've checked, there's a function in the Bonus Tools 6.5 that allow you to convert an instance to a regular object. It's "convert Instance"

Cheers.

Thanks, I'll look in to that ASAP - I'm on V6 at the mo but will be getting 7 as soon as possible - not sure how it'll deal with it all as the heads up in Maya is telling me I've got 4.1 million faces in this model, maybe trying it on one of the houses first might be a bright idea......
