i can render a scene with no problems using any of the materials (diffuse dielectric, metal...etc...) but when i go to put a texture map into the color map slot i get an error saying that the mxi file is invalid?
any thoughts?

if it is a bug, i wonder why other people with the same engine version, and mayall version can use texture maps for color and bump?

Hi Mcyorian
I was just wondering what you meant by cleaning or rebuilding the geometry?
Thanx for the reply

cleaning the geometry shouldnt be the culprit. i start a new scene, and create a primitive poly plane, and try to apply a map, and i get the error. i delete the texture, and i can render the scene fine

heres the thing, i downloaded the newest versions when they came out, and installed them, and i should have checked if they were installed. but when i looked at the version number, Maxwell tab, Help, it shows that i am still using version 1_1_33_0001_alpha_
I have tried installing several times, but its still the old version. Now i will uninstall the old version and try to reinstall the new version again

No luck, i just uninstalled everything, downloaded the new version 1.2.2a, installed, liscensec, then ran maya, and its still the old version (1.1.33)
I have been emailing NL about this issue

another note, i notice that in my pluggin manager, that there are two spots for the pluggins, the first ( and its at the top of list ) is at location c:/mayall and the other is at location C:Program Files (x86)/Alias/Maya6.5/bin/plug-ins
why are there two spots for this? does everyone else have two places in the list to activate the pluggin?
bye the way my second pluggin fails to register, the one thats not at the top of page

i just saw that when i open the Maxwell viewer, it is the newer engine version 1_2_2a_beta
and the console version is 1_2_1_beta
but within maya menues if i go to Maxwell tab, About, it says i have teh old version (1_1_33_0001alpha_)
Wonder what thats all about?
