...is pretty good! After 100000 hours of changing the tesselation of faces of Solidworks files (if anyone could tell me how to change the tessellation of all the faces at once I would appreciate it, but I don't have the same tesselation options when all faces are selected) i'm getting some decent renders (some with using standard Maya materials).

Hopefully i'll do my first animation soon!

I think this is what you're looking for...

Select all of your faces and go under window>general editors>attribute spread sheet.
Choose the tesselation tab.
Click on the column title of the attribute you want to change so that the whole column gets selected and then type in the new value and hit enter...you should now see all the rows in that column be changed to the new setting..
Start with setting the column "Display Render" to all on, now you see the current tesselation.. :-)

Good luck
