not related to maxwell

Hi maya users,

I'm running into a big prob.

I have a model, with a huge amount of instances. For maxwell i want to convert all instances into real copies. When i select one instance, and copy it, and then delete the instance it works. When i try to select more instances at one time, it doesn't work.... :(
I tried to use a melscript found on Highen3D, but it seems that the script has some probs with the duplicated names, as the model was made by duplicated instance groups ....

So, any help would be really really appreciated :D

Are the models heavy? I mean, is it possible to merge them all into one object, delete the history, and then separate them again?

models are heavy...and when you merge them (combine), instances dissapear. :(

but i think i found now the solution, with a bunch of scripts and hard work on selecting, renaming, copying, deleting..... arghhhhh :D

thank's SunlightRocker

so your saying you tried this script.. .Uninstancer 1.0.0 (http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads ... /4331.html)

and you had problems because the instances were in groups?
I know you had to finish your work.. but could you drop the author an email to explain your situation and maybe he can update the script to work with instances in groups and multi objects sharing the same name.. maybe add some kind of prefix of numbering to the uninstanced objects..

reading your post i was bummed cuz I too was curios in using this script.
