Maya and Maxwell - big frustration

Hi,
we are a company with many great customers like Lufthansa V.I.P. – aeroplanes, Sunseeker (deluxe boats) etc.
We work with MAYA (now the 8.0 Release) and we cannot understand why there is
a) no Maya 8 Release of the plugin yet
b) why the MAYA Plugin is one of the worst and oldest plugins for maxwellrender.
I mean MAYA is NOT an exotic, cheap 3D-Software.
Why you guys release plugins for Sketch-Up and other silly programs and don’t pay attention to the global players of the 3D-market.
The Maya Plugin is still 0.91 Beta – no Multilight and HDRI/environment options. The EDIT mxm
Material button does not work etc.
Once we thought Maxwell-Render will help us to visualize high quality images for hq-customers but we feel real dissapointed for now …
Regards and still with hope for a better maya-plugin support.

Im with you DNS. Im also working with Maya and nothing else.
I got Maya 8 delivered two weeks ago or something, but I have not installed it yet, cuz there is no plugin for Maya 8. It would atleast be great to hear someone from NL say, "Hey, we are working on it", but silence seems to be what NL is working on right now.

I've written them, and they told me "we're totally rewriting Maya plug-in".
But how long will they rewrite it, who knows...
How now it's just useless crap, and i'm still "waiting for 1.0"...

Have to agree, the Maya plugin is PANTS!! I have not used Maxwell for ages as I cannot stand using the buggy plugin and I cannot get my head around Studio.
To be fair, there are not many developers who have released the plugins for Maya 8, but hey, Next Limit could be first
An update is seriously needed..

I have to disagree a bit, yes MAYALL is old, but is not that bad, you can actually use multilight and HDRI environment options, and for sure the "edit mxm" material works, I use it everytime.
Don´t complaint that much and learn how to use the software, yes, it can be improved a lot, but in this state it is usable (not for MAYA 8, but you´ll have the new plugin this October)...

Well, even "importing objs" scheme "usable".
But it's not what i call "production-ready"

Hey guys,
Give it a few days and I'll be releasing Mayalt - an alternative UI for the mayall plugin for maya 7.0 - for testing. It's not a solution for everything, but it has solved a few of my problems
I'll post more info when I've written the basic UI notes.
Cheers,
Dr Merman

Although in the meantime, what is the error you guys are getting when loading the v7 plugin into maya 8?

Well, you know, plugins compiled for MAYA 7 don´t work in other versions of the program..., Mayall is not an exception.

Dear Maya users,
I would just say; "Fasten your seat belts." and remind me when the wait is over.
I won't be able to give an exact date right now and we're impatient for releasing it but
it's still under testing and it won't last long. In the end, it will worth...
Best regards,
Tom

thanks tom.
and to give NL some credit the maya 8 API did have a good amount of changes. especially now you need to compile for both x86 and x64.
