Just select your emitter shader via attribute editor (Select botton on the bottom-left in the attribute editor window) , and then change the RGB in the channel box.

I have notice that I have to reverse normals in a default poly sphere to assign an emitter shader if i want this sphere to emitt light from inside.
And if the sphere is too big, increase the intensity, power... a lot.
