Hey Peter,

Thanks again, I got your email through :) That error suggests that the script isn't in your default scripts directory (confusingly, Maya creates 2 script directories automatically when you install Maya, with only one of them being used by the program itself.) To find your default directory :

1) Open Maya, and bring up the script editor (button at bottom right of screen.)
2) Paste the following code into the bottom box
Code: Select all
string $check = `internalVar -usd`;
3) Go to Script>Execute, or hit Ctrl-Enter.

This should display your default script directory in the top box. If you copy the DMSS_mainFile.mel to that directory, and let me know what happens.

And I could not be happier about the 1.5 news :D A whole bunch of stuff that I've really been hoping for (linux mainly - very render node friendly :) )

Thanks again, and as I said, I should have the first version of that preview script for you guys to test sometime mid-week.

Cheers,
Dr Merman

good morning, gentlemen.

* * *

may i wish an other option... ?

* * *

i have seen a problem with the standard maya projection tools.

let me explain.

i wanted to project a texture (let's say a brick texture) onto two cube columns and to the girder (word?) going from the top of of the first column to the top of the second column. (like stonehenge :) )

now, the projection always turned the brick lenghtwise, so the bricks always look the wrong way, rotated by 90 degrees to the axis. no matter which axis i used to create the blocks.

certainly i could rotate all textures, i just wanted to ask if it's possible when using drag-n-drop material assigning to define also the rotation...

:D You guys...

Sorry about the lack of info, I've been crazy busy, but I have been putting a few things together. I tell you what, I've been working on a new way to present the script so if you'll give me an hour or so, I'll put together a little tester for you :) It's not much but it'll give you an idea of where I'm going with this.

And sadly you're right, I seem to get very little sleep these days :shock: :)

Cheers,
Dr Merman

deadalvs : I'll take your idea into account and put something together. I'll keep everybody updated.

Most appreciated... but lack of sleep seems like such a small price ot pay for having a super human power.. : >)
