Help with preview scene for arch viz

Hello,
I'm pretty dumb with how to make my own preview scene. I would like to modify the floor.mxs scene, because its not so easy to use for architecture, the 10cm wide sample is 10 times smaller than what i think it should be. For floors such as stones, wood floors etc, a 1m wide field of view would be much more interesting. I am fighting with the studio in trying to make this bigger without success.
Has someone such a test scene ( the floor one, or a similar kind ) with bigger field of view ? If you could share it it would be MUCH appreciated

I have not yet understood how to make my own ( and set it to work) from sketchup and studio
Thnx much!
Nils

Brodie posted a nice tutorial about that here:

But if you want to post what you've got so far I might be able to help iron out the kinks.
Best,
Jason.

Hello HL
thnx, downloaded the preview he made, they are pretty usefull indeed!
I have understood now how to make my own preview, but, as with his or MR's, after I use them in mxed and save the mxm, the preview scene is not saved ( despite restarting mxed...) is it a way to save the new previews with the new scenes? is it a bug?
thnx
Nils

It certainly should save the new preview render as well as any changes you have made to the material -- that is very odd... are you using the "save" or "save as" command or the "save and close" button?
Best,
Jason.

It just occurred to me that you might be doing these in studio -- in which case you should either "export MXM" or "Extract from MXS" (if you want to do them all at once).
Best,
Jason.

No am simply doing this inside mxed..
1. select scene, change scene
2. refresh preview
3. save ( or save as ( tried both)
shut mxed
open mxed
preview on the previous .mxm stays the same ( the old scene)..
strange! any hint?

That would seem to be a bug, it works fine on mine... which OS are you using?
Best,
Jason.

Win 7 64bits / 2.5.1 mxed
i'll try to reproduce this on the mac os to see if its a bug!
normally if i recall, just "save" the mxm updates the preview to the latest used and calculated...

You might also check to see if you need any special permissions under Win 7 to save -- but that seems unlikely.
Anybody else use this OS care to confirm this is a bug?
Best,
Jason.

for me it works with win7 x64 and v2.5.1. no problems saving mxm with different previews.

Yeah, that would be my guess -- but I've not seen that problem before.
Best,
Jason.
