Hidden (invisble) emitters in v2?

I've got a problem with hidden emitters.

I've followed the instruction for hiding them in Tom's post on the Think! Maxwell site http://think.maxwellrender.com/invisibl ... ers-7.html i.e. create an emitter material with an extra 'invisble' BSDF layer so that it doesn't cast shadows.

Everything works fine until I add a glass material (Maxwell wizard glass) in front of the emitters.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's just impossible to do with glass? Has anyone else has this issue?

First, create geometry and apply 2 layer emitter (emitter with extra 'invisble' BSDF). Still visible here because I haven't added 'hide from camera'...

...now apply a 'hide from camera' mesh property. So far so good!

Now add a glass material infront of the previous shot (no other changes have been made) and the emitters reappear!

Hide to reflection/refraction also.

Hi Fernando, thanks for the tip. I've just tried that (i.e. 'hide to secondary rays') and it just hides the light's effect entirely.

It may be that what I want (to see the light's effect in the reflection of the glass but not the actual lights themselves) is impossible??

Now, this is a terminology problem. :) Because, light's effect in the reflection on the glass is the reflected light itself. So yes, it's physically impossible.

Tom, thanks for clearing that up, I thought I might be pushing the physics of light a bit :!: I was hoping for the 'sparkles' without seeing the actual lights but, you're right, this is actually the reflected light. Oh well :(

If there's a reference image or you can explain what are you exactly doing I may suggest other ways. ;)
