Hi guys- I have to recreate a high density foam material and need a bump map that will reflect back a circular cell structure. I am not the best at photoshop but may have to give it a whirl... just sort of hoping that one of you guys would have something in one of your texture libraries that might work. THANKS!

Which type of foam are you looking for ? there are hundreds different variations of foam out there. It would be nice if you could be a little bit more specific. I think i never seen that circular cellstructure one you're talking about.

Hey Magnus- I guess that would be a good idea eh :)!

I am looking for a high density foam- very compact structure. I have found some pics close to what I am trying to achieve- In the first image the blue foam is pretty close to what I am looking for but the cell structure is a little large. Some typical applications are the foam inserts in briefcases.

Does that help.... I do not have a sample at hand but from my memory the cell structure was rounded... almost like an Aero chocolate bar.

Hm, i see now what you're looking for. It's very dense, i made a styrofoam material long time ago and it's not as dense but it has those small circular things in it, if you changed the color and increased the tiling then it might do the job..

Max has a cellular procedural map that can be rendered out. Have Max?

Hey Brian I am assuming that you mean 3dsMax? I don't have it but it sounds cool :).

...and invert the bump map for the blue one :D

Is this of any use? I made a video on how to make voronoi diagrams in Photoshop with radial grads on separate layers and the lighten blend mode.

Might be tedious, but here it is.

a closer look --

take the negative of that radial grad-based pattern and it looks like round bubbles packed together to me.
